Nursery Activities during School Closure:

Dear Nursery Parents and Carers,

Please see below details of websites that can be accessed at home to support children’s learning and development in the early years, whilst the school closure continues. We hope you find this information useful and enjoy using these sites to enhance your child’s learning experiences at home. There are also listed some basic activities/skills that you can do each day with your child which will help them upon their return to Nursery once we re-open. We will also provide weekly work challenges to complete whilst we are shut.

Excellent site built around the 7 areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage. You can access a free 7-day trial but you need to subscribe after this period to access the content – various subscription packages available.

Bug Club our online reading and comprehension platform, log ins where sent home in the Autumn Term.

Great site with some free phonics games

Many games often recognised by children from their favourite programmes.

Links to particular cbeebies games from areas of learning.

Cbeebies stories and rhymes.

Interactive books and reading activities to share with your child at home.

New and improved! Try creating your own Spot story.

Everyday activities:

  • Counting 1-20+ (forwards and backwards)
  • Singing the days of the week and months of the year songs (you can find links on YouTube)
  • Recognising numbers and shapes in the environment e.g. television remote control, catalogues, door numbers, counting how many knives and forks needed for dinner etc… Count how many steps it takes to walk around the room/up the stairs etc…
  • Draw a picture of your favourite animal, character from your favourite story.
  • Draw a picture of you and your family remembering to include all your features: eyes, ears, nose, mouth, neck, body, arms, hands, legs, feet etc…
  • Continue to practice recognising your own name and try writing it.

We hope to see you back in Nursery soon, once the closure has been lifted.

Best wishes to you all!
