Nursery Admissions

Nursery provision at Drayton Green Primary School from September 2025:

Early Years Admissions

Drayton Green admits children into Nursery the term after their third birthday. Parents apply through the school. Please complete the form included below and return to admission@draytongreen.ealing.sch.uk.  If you receive a place, you will be provided with more information, usually a term before your child is due to start in the nursery.

Parents apply to the London Borough of Ealing for a place in Reception and are offered a place by the borough according to its guidelines. There is no guarantee that our Nursery children are offered a place in the Reception class. Please use this link here to apply for Reception here

  • Nursery is open to children who are three years old by 31st August in the year in which they start Nursery.
  • It is not our policy to offer places to children younger than this. It is also not our policy to offer places to children who reach their 5th (or older) birthday on or after 1st September

How many places will you offer?

There will be 20 AM or PM places alongside full-time placements.

What will the Nursery hours be?

AM Sessions: 8:45 – 11:45 (15 hours per week), which is the free, Universal Entitlement

PM Sessions: 12:15 – 3:15 (15 hours per week), which is the free, Universal Entitlement

30 Hour sessions: 8.45 – 3.15 pm (32.5 hours per week) comprising:

  • 15 hours a week for free early education (Universal Entitlement)
  • Plus 15 hours per week ‘Extended Entitlement’ for those who are eligible and in possession of a valid HMRC code

And

2.5 hours per week of lunchtime supervision, charged at £15 per week

What if I am not eligible for Extended Entitlement?

We will also offer those not eligible for Extended Entitlement the opportunity for parents/carers to pay for the additional hours over the Universal Entitlement. This parent/carer Provision comprises:

  • 15 hours Universal Entitlement plus
  • 17.5 hours (including lunch time sessions) parent/carer paid at £125 per week, totalling £500 per month.

For those not eligible for the extended entitlement there will be a cost of £25.00 per day to cover the cost of the lunch time provision and the afternoon nursery sessions. Parents/carers will be required to make half-termly payments via our school app (ParentPay). Failure of payment may result in your child losing their full-time placement.

Will school meals be provided?
Unfortunately we are unable to offer school lunches to Nursery children. Parents/carers will need to provide a packed lunch throughout the academic year which will be eaten in Nursery.

Please note, the funding for free school meals only applies for Reception to Year 6 pupils.

Can I choose certain days for my child to attend?
No – Your child will need to attend 5 days a week

What are your Admission Criteria?
Nursery places will be allocated on the following criteria:

  1. Looked After Children who are currently in public Care and previously Looked After Children who have left Care due to adoption, special guardianship or child arrangements order.
  2. Children who have siblings who will be attending the school in September 2024.
  3. Children taking the highest number of hours per week.
  4. Children living closest to Drayton Green Primary School

The closing date for September 2026 applications is Thursday 30th April 2025. Any applications submitted during the course of the year will be placed on our waiting list.

Practical Points

  • If you have children in other schools, please consider what arrangements you may need to make in order to get your children to school and our nursery for an 8:45am start. The same applies at the end of the day when collecting children at 3:15pm for full time or PM session children.
  • All the children in Nursery wear school uniform

Allocations for Drayton Green Primary School Reception

  • A place at our nursery does not guarantee a place in a Reception class, you will need to apply for a Reception place.
  • Application for admission into Reception must be made through the Local Authority who will allocate places
  • The school cannot accept responsibility for information entered incorrectly on the application form

Provision of an incorrect home address or other false information is likely to lead to the withdrawal of an offer of a Reception place.
